The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, ruled out today (Wednesday) any negotiations with Ukraine in light of the attack launched by the Ukrainian armed forces on the Kursk region.
Zakharova stated at a press conference reported by the Russian news agency (Sputnik) that Ukrainian militants and foreign "mercenaries" are committing "real atrocities" in Kursk, shooting at civilians and volunteers, destroying civilian infrastructure, targeting journalists, and creating threats to nuclear facilities. She emphasized that no type of peace negotiations can take place under such circumstances and with the Kyiv regime.
She noted that Moscow views Indian Prime Minister Modi's visit to Kyiv as an attempt to contribute meaningfully to a political and diplomatic resolution of the Ukrainian crisis, alongside the efforts of other countries that propose a balanced and neutral approach. She affirmed Russia's readiness to continue dialogue with India regarding the Ukrainian issue.
Ukrainian armed forces units had launched an attack on Russian territory in the Kursk region on August 6th.
